Crochet brings us back to a time when gifts for people were made by hand, with care. No mass production, no slick marketing campaigns or product placement, but a gift made painstakingly with care. Crochet was made popular by Grandma, who would make mittens, scarfs, slippers, sweaters, and hats for the children in the family. More recently more and more Mothers and Grandmothers have taken up the craft, keeping their children cozy and warm and their kitchens full of dishcloths and bathrooms full of facecloths.

People love to Crochet because it is a slow, peaceful and patient way to pass some time. Many a floor has been worn bare by a little old lady sitting in a rocking chair making mittens or hat out of crochet. We’d be willing to bet that most of the people reading this right now have been given something crocheted in life at some point. Most likely this was made by someone who really cared, not a machine churning out thousands.

Crochet isn’t easy, however with time and practice you create amazing crafts and clothing out of Crochet.

Evidence of the growing trend of younger mothers getting into the joys of Crochet, we found a Stay-At-Home Mom Mrs. Hemenway that makes cute hats and Amigurumi out of Crochet. Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures. The word is derived from a combination of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll.[1].
